4JJ1 injectors for the Isuzu D-Max and Holden Colorado
The 4JJ1 is Isuzu's 3.0 litre common rail turbo diesel, and it has powered the D-Max since 2008, along with the Holden Rodeo, the RC Colorado and the MU-X. It's known as one of the toughest diesel utes around, but after years of work, towing and Australian fuel, the injectors wear. We stock genuine Denso 4JJ1 injectors and genuine Isuzu injector lines, so you can do the job properly with original parts.
Which 4JJ1 injector do I need?
| Vehicle | Engine | Injector |
|---|---|---|
| Isuzu D-Max & Holden Rodeo / RC Colorado 3.0L, 2007-2012 | 4JJ1-TC / 4JJ1-TCX | Denso 095000-6980 (Isuzu 8-98011604-x) |
| Isuzu D-Max 3.0L 130kW (newer model) | 4JJ1 130kW | Denso 295050-2420 (Isuzu 8-98317930-0) |
Isuzu updated the 4JJ1 and its injectors over the years, and the earlier and later injectors are not interchangeable. The safest way to order is to read the part number off your existing injector, or call us on 0433 721 935 with your VIN or rego and we'll confirm fitment. MU-X owners: the MU-X uses the 4JJ1 too, so give us your VIN and we'll check which injector suits your vehicle.
Replace the injector lines at the same time
We stock the genuine Isuzu 4JJ1 injector fuel lines (set of 4, 8-98223194-0 to 8-98223197-0) for the D-Max and MU-X. High-pressure lines wear internally over time, typically from around 120,000 to 150,000 km, and fine steel particles from a worn line can damage brand-new injectors. We strongly recommend replacing the lines whenever you replace the injectors, and never bending or re-using a line that has been disturbed.
Signs your 4JJ1 injectors are worn
- Rough or uneven idle
- Black or white smoke, particularly under load
- Loss of power or flat spots when accelerating or towing
- Hard starting
- Higher fuel consumption
- Check engine light or injector-related fault codes
Our Diagnose Your Diesel guide covers the common checks, and we offer injector testing at our Brisbane workshop. Don't run a faulty injector for long, as over-fuelling can damage the turbo, DPF and pistons.
Genuine Denso, not copies
Every 4JJ1 injector we sell is a genuine Denso unit, the same manufacturer that supplies Isuzu. Cheap copies are common online and frequently fail early. All our injectors come with a 12-month warranty and ship fast Australia-wide. See all Isuzu diesel parts and Holden diesel parts.
4JJ1 injector FAQs
Should I replace all four 4JJ1 injectors at once?
We recommend it. Injectors wear at a similar rate, and a matched set gives even fuelling across all four cylinders. Replacing one at a time usually means another job soon after.
Do new 4JJ1 injectors need coding?
Yes. 4JJ1 injectors carry a compensation (ID) code that needs to be programmed into the ECU with a suitable scan tool after fitting. Your mechanic or diesel specialist can do this when the injectors go in.
Do D-Max and Holden Colorado use the same 4JJ1 injector?
The 2007-2012 D-Max and the Holden Rodeo / RC Colorado of the same era share the 3.0L 4JJ1 and use the same Denso 095000-6980 injector. Check the part number or contact us with your VIN to confirm.
Should I replace the injector lines too?
Yes. Worn high-pressure lines can shed fine particles that damage new injectors, so we recommend fitting new lines with every set of injectors.
Can you install the injectors for me?
Yes. See our workshop installation service in Brisbane, or call 0433 721 935.
